By: admin February 12, 2014

Dr. David was recently featured on ABC News in a Valentine’s Day special segment on Couples Plastic Surgery.

More and more couples are having cosmetic surgery hand in hand, especially facelift surgery, according to Dr. David. “In the past, the wife would usually come in and schedule surgery, the husband would remain in the background. Now men want to look better too, and the couples will book their procedures back to back so they can help each other recover,” explains Dr. David.

Dr. David feels the trend is because men are less inhibited about having surgery and couples in general want to look as good as they feel. David and Jackie, the couple in the story, feel their new looks complement their active lifestyles.

Both David and Jackie had the La Jolla Lift procedure with Dr. David, which rejuvenates the neck, jowls, and cheeks with twilight sedation. Jackie also chose to add on her eyelids and some fat transfer to the face. You can see their before and after photos in our facelift and La Jolla Lift galleries.

Botox Injection in San Diego

By: admin February 02, 2014

Botox is one of the most common injectable products used in our San Diego medical spa. Why has botox retained its popularity for over a decade? There are a number of reasons.

First of all, neurotoxins such as Botox cannot be easily replaced by injectable fillers. Botox works by temporarily weakening the muscles that cause facial wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines, and smile lines (crow’s feet). Injectable fillers work by adding volume. In most cases, without treating the muscles that are actively creating the lines-simply adding volume will not do the trick.  That is why fillers work best for static lines-lines that don’t change significantly with muscle motion- and hollow or flattened areas (cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, lips, ect.).

Secondly, botox has been shown over time to decrease the formation of and severity of wrinkles. This was shown in a study of identical twins, one of whom used botox regularly, over ten years. With other factors controlled, the botox-treated twin was shown to have fewer static wrinkles.

Dysport and Xeomin are two competitors to Botox that are commonly used in San Diego. All of these products have proven safe and effective, with some clients preferring one over the others, and others seeing no difference.  In some cases, Botox appears to have a more localized effect, which may be more beneficial for some patients-less for others.

Our highly trained nurse injectors are always happy to discuss your options for injectable wrinkle treatment.
