For many Californians, the perfect beach body involves more than just a tan and a defined silhouette. Firm and well-toned muscles are part of the “beach body” package. But, unfortunately, not everyone can achieve a slim and toned body through diet and exercise. That’s where Emsculpt® comes in.

What Is Emsculpt®?
Emsculpt® is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that helps tone, tighten, and build muscles in your abdomen, thighs, calves, arms, and buttocks. It works by using high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM®) to stimulate muscles.
HIFEM® technology targets specific muscles and gets them to contract rapidly (called supramaximal contractions). This type of rapid contraction causes the muscles to work hard without you working hard. As a result, your muscle tone will improve without the need to spend hours in the gym.
Emsculpt® is a complement to (rather than a replacement for) a regular exercise program. It can tone and strengthen muscles that traditional exercises cannot target effectively.
One session is the equivalent of doing 20,000 sit-ups or squats in just 30 minutes.
Is Emsculpt® Right for Me?
Emsculpt® is ideal for anyone who wants to build toned and stronger muscles. It can also help reduce fat deposits around the targeted muscle groups. If you already have an intense workout routine, healthy lifestyle, and good diet, Emsculpt® may be just the thing to give you your ideal, athletic-looking physique.
Even if you are not as dedicated, Emsculpt® can still help. Emsculpt® treatments can tone and strengthen muscles regardless of your current shape. That being said, Emsculpt® works best when you are at or near your goal weight.
Emsculpt® is not a fat reduction procedure and will not help you lose significant amounts of weight. However, the muscle contractions will burn some fat around the targeted muscles, leaving you looking more toned and fit. If you want body contouring without liposuction, non-invasive body sculpting may be right for you.
How Does Emsculpt® Work?
Emsculpt® works by stimulating muscles to shiver and undergo something called supramaximal contractions. These muscle contractions are not achieved through conscious thought like exercise is. Instead, they are achieved with direct HIFEM® stimulation of the nerves that control the muscles. This process is entirely non-invasive, with the applicator head resting on your skin.
You will feel your muscles contracting several times a minute for the duration of your procedure. This process strengthens and tones your muscles while burning fat. HIFEM® technology can tone and contour your body to help you look your best on the beach or anywhere else.
Most sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes, though 60-minute sessions are not unheard of. Patients can spend this time relaxing, reading, or catching up on emails.
How Long Does It Take to Recover After Emsculpt®?
Recovery after Emsculpt® is almost instant. You may feel a slight tingling sensation during treatment, but this should fade within minutes of completing your session. You will be able to return to work and resume all activities immediately after your procedure.
For most patients, it will be impossible for others to tell you had any cosmetic treatment even if they see you within minutes of completing it.
After your session, the treated muscles may feel sore or weak, comparable to how they feel after a good workout. These symptoms will fade just like after a natural workout, with minor soreness lasting for a few days to a week, depending on how fast your muscles adjust.
When Will I See My Emsculpt® Results?
Initial results will be visible almost immediately as your muscles will be well exercised. They will continue to look increasingly toned over the next few days and weeks as your muscles adjust. The muscles will gradually grow stronger and more firm as the muscle fibers grow.
HIFEM® contractions will also burn fat, so the targeted areas will be slimmer and more defined over the course of several weeks. Final results often become apparent within two to four weeks.
How Long Do Emsculpt® Results Last?
The results of Emsculpt® usually last between three to six months, though this will vary significantly depending on your lifestyle. For example, patients who eat well and exercise regularly are likely to see their results last longer.
On the other hand, patients who rely on HIFEM® treatments alone to keep them fit and trim will see their results fade more quickly.
There is no limit to the number of Emsculpt® sessions you can do. Patients can choose to do Emsculpt® as often as they desire to maintain their new body contours and build more muscle mass.
Special maintenance packages are available to maintain results.
Can I Combine Emsculpt® With Other Procedures?
Emsculpt® works well with other minimally invasive procedures. The most common combination involves adding CoolSculpting® to your non-invasive body contouring therapy. You may also use Emsculpt® to help you recover after other plastic surgery procedures like tummy tuck surgery.
Should you choose Emsculpt® as a follow-up to a surgical procedure, you must be completely healed from that surgery.
How Much Does Emsculpt® Cost?
Your Emsculpt® price will vary depending on the muscles you want to be treated. The more muscle groups and areas you want to be toned, the longer and more expensive your procedure will be. Most patients choose to undergo several sessions spaced a few weeks apart to achieve optimal results.
