Voluma
Voluma is one of the latest injectable fillers to hit the market and is the only filler FDA approved for mid face correction that lasts for 2 years. In our San Diego medical spa, Voluma is used to volumize and lift the cheeks, as well as the hollow area below the cheeks, creating a more youthful and natural look. Rejuvenating the mid face (cheek area) is critical, because this also improves the smile lines and creates facial balance. Other areas that may be treated with Voluma include the jawline, pre-jowl sulcus, temples, and smile lines. Besides the fact that it lasts for two years, this filler has the all the benefits of a Hyaluronic Acid filler, namely the unmatched safety profile: Voluma can be dissolved if any unwanted effects are seen (this is highly unlikely from our experience). This filler is likely to be a game changer in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation.
Key Points about Voluma XC:

- Side effects are mild and generally include temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching.
What is Voluma XC?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) occurs naturally in our skin and adds volume through hydration. As we age, we tend to lose hyaluronic acid.
Dr. David and his team at the Roy David MD, Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa are among San Diego’s most experienced Voluma injectors and have treated hundreds of clients. When investing in a long lasting liquid facelift with products such as Voluma or Sculptra, it is critical to choose an experienced physician with an artistic eye. We regularly see patients who have been over-injected by non-core physicians (doctors with no formal cosmetic surgery training), or who have wasted time and money on fillers that were not appropriate for their needs.
As a board certified facial plastic surgeon with over ten years of experience, Dr. David is on the cutting edge of minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, and will draw on his knowledge of fillers to choose the best product or combination of products for you needs. Occasionally, Voluma enhancement of the cheeks will be combined with a liquid eyelift (different product). In this way, adjacent anatomic regions of the face are kept in balance and natural-appearing.
Risks of Voluma are similar to the risks for any hyaluronic acid based filler: bruising, swelling, and temporary bumps may occur even in the best hands (please click here for a complete list of risks and side effects). However, most of our clients experience little to no bruising and minimal swelling.
